Regidrago’s draconic influence and “dragon energy” are either a reference to the Middle Ages and their love of myths and magic, or an abstraction of prehistoric times by making Regidraco a literal “fossil fuel”. Regieleki represents the Modern Age and the conceived “magic” of electricity and how we tamed it to make leaps and bounds.

Regigigas going from forming things from physical objects to energy also shows an increase in own mastery over its own power.

I don't see why a Dragon golem wouldn't be made out of the thing that defines a Dragon type Pokemon. A bone golem would just be a Ground type if anything since bones = Ground type in this series.

The regi trio were just fine being a trio (ice age, stone age, iron age), and Regigigas was an alright addition lore-wise as the golem builder, but dragon regi makes no sense (it's not made of "dragon", and doesn't really correspond to an age of humanity's development), and electricity regi also doesn't make much sense because of how long Regigigas was reportedly sealed away for, unless mankind harnessed electricity sometime around 200 BC in the pokemon world.

Maybe the Elec Regi was what humanity modeled their improving tech on. Like a "It's not shaped like a light bulb, light bulbs are shaped like it" kind of deal. I view them like Regigas, where he's an expansion to the overall concept instead of an addition to the trio. These are the energy Regis, while the originals were the solid Regis. If they're going to expand the Regis, I much prefer adding a separate group over trying to add Regiwood or whatever.

Pretty sure "Dragon energy", or whatever dragon-type is, was made pretty obvious before gen 8 with dragon-type attacks often involving blue flames or having blue effects.
It was also made particularly clear with gen 7 and Z-moves.
