I was just sitting around in front of my workstation thinking about how my life would have been like if I hadn't stopped playing Pokemon 15 years ago. I think about how addicted I was to seeing the HP bar fall, to capturing virtual creatures and training them, and to talking to fictional characters within those universes. I think about the parasocial relationship modern people have with fictional characters like Pikachu and how pervasive it is in our society. It's a morbid feeling to know that people still play these games obsessively and that they look forward to new installments each year or two.
