I would rather each generation of pokemon mainline game lasts for 5-7 years and the game be supported for that long so that the next gen also gets enough time to develop and stand out against other competent franchises
imagine if instead of getting 4-6 games every generation, we only got 1 really awesome mainline game that would be supported for 5 years at least with DLCs and events and other stuff that extends multiplayer gameplay
people will actually have a reason to invest in these games besides filling up their faggy dex AND the games will have great quality because they'll get more time for development
