Singleplayer in the main games is mind numbingly easy, and building a team for multiplayer is tedious. On showdown you can play against people who (usually) actually have half a brain with teams that you can whip up in a few minutes. Doesn't hurt that showdown has way more variety in terms of formats which helps keep things fresh.
