This fag always brings up the “extremely late into development" thing but it's bs. Trials were added late into the game, yes, but not as an after though right before shipping the game like he implies. And anyway Trials were based and a great relacement for gyms so i don't get why it matters anyway

All things considered, this would explain a lot in how much of a straight downgrade SM was in comparison to XY.
I love trials and totems were actually legitimately good, but it's a shame that they got shoved out in the state they did because Ohmori decided to have a manic episode over Yokai Watch. Doesn't help that Alola also decided to start relying on Kanto pandering as a backup in case the new gimmick system they came up with backfired.

SM wasn’t really a downgrade, it was visually better looking and also gameplay wise it was a much needed breath of fresh air. And Kalos was the one who went full on Kantoo crazy to the point where it doesn’t even have an identity beyond it. At least for Alola it made sense because of the 20th anniversary

The only thing Kanto crazy about Kalos is the megas, the rest is pretty much a combination of tons of moms from other regions getting spotlight due to the reduced number of new mon. You can summit up as the “shillmon” region, since blaziken, lucario, charizard, mewtwo, garchomp, gadervoir are the ones that are heavily promoted.

What about stuff like your first wild pokemon ever coded to always be Pidgey, Santalune Forest being literally a copy paste of Viridian, being literally handed a Kanto Starter as soon as you enter Lumiose, then the Snorlax exactly like in KANTOO, then the Lapras, we could go on. Kalos at least had a sense of identity, too. While Alola also decided to start the trend of obligatory new gimmicks that ONLY work in x region just because it was so lacking in things to call its own.
