Third versions are a ridiculous premise. The only time it is justified is the way Gen 5 handled it with expansion of the region/story.
Gen 6 really missed this too which is a shame. GF needed to get away from this 'third version is the full game' thing they had, because it just makes their prior product retroactively poor.

Its extra content that I can use my current save file for if I decide to purchase it.

They shouldn't, because DLC doesn't push console sales as well as new title releases do. Game Freak had the right idea replacing the rehashes with DLC, but even if you stopped remakes entirely, they'd still be releasing a new ull title release in its place.

Better than any third version, seeing as nintendo explicitly mentioned it as part of why its digital-only sales were so strong since it launched. But we know the games only sold about 800K between last figures update and EoFY when they mentioned the DLC, they didn't drive game sales as much as they got people who'd never buy the old rehashes buying into the new version of them.

Whether you’re buying a third version or paying for DLC, one thing that’s unacceptable is having the DLC / Third Version basically “fix” and “complete” the original game. The game should be 100% complete with all content from the get go, and DLC should just be extra content instead of the shit that you were supposed to get but just locked behind an extra paywall. Give me my full $60 game with DLC as extra or don’t give me the game at all.
