Gen 2 has the worst starters
I like obstagoon and alolan persian (not in a sexual way for either)
Gen 3 has the best starters
Gen 3 also has the best region
Gen 5 has the best overworld visuals (hgss make a close second)
Gen 5 has the best music
Diamond and pearl are bad (platinum is a huge improvement)
Gen 7 is worse than 8 but both are bad. Despite this gen 7 had the best waifus (5 is a close second)
