No it doesn't you mong. Plot armor is when a main character unrealistically survives something because it would ruin the plot if they didn't. I think Pokemon are just weak enough that they can't easily kill humans, which is what this shows.

She could probably spar with Machamp if she was a bit stronger. She was also over working herself before this sparring match happened. Its likely someone like Bruno and Chuck who are a bit more experienced in fighting could actually fight their Machamp and win. Hell, Brycen could beat the shit out of a Pokemon if he wanted.
Pokemon Trainers fighting/sparring their Pokemon should be a more normal thing, treat it like a Boxer Training with their trainer or something.

Personal take on why this is good btw: Its builds a stronger bond with a Pokemon in my opinion. If a Pokemon knows that the person teaching them all these tricks actually knows how to fight that would build respect and understanding when fights break out. They not only can talk the talk, but they can fight too!
