How would some moves like Earthquake, Hyper Beam, Rock Slide, Magnitude, Surf, Muddy Water, etc would work without killing the trainer as well?

Sadly that's the most likely answer. Though the leak did say that trainer will have to dodge attacks now. I wonder if the trainer will have a HP bar as well. Taking too much damage might send trainer to nearest last visited Inn.

Anywhere the trainer stands is an immuniity zone. As long as the trainer stands in that spot he/she's immune to all pokemon moves

So basically the same thing as it is now? Trainer never reacts to attacks or even try dodging them.
