Imagine you buy a JRPG but every big story element is practically removed and the game just tells you to keep going on ahead instead. And all the areas barring one are essentially linear hallways, and there aren't many areas to begin with. And most of the assets in the game are carried over from previous entries. And big dungeon locations are almost totally absent or simplified to a surprising degree. Also, compared to its contemporaries it looks like ass and there isn't even voice acting, it's below par in practically every regard. And not only that, but they split content between the JRPG into two versions. And online functionality that was once free now requires a monthly subscription fee. And some staple features have been outright cut from the game and moved to a phone app that wants you to start up another monthly subscription fee. And not only that, but connectivity and transfers with an additional game drains you of a stamina system that takes a week to replenish unless you pay more money. And then they have the gall to ask that you pay an additional $30 to get some content, and some of that content is exclusive to the version you're playing.
Think about it this way. BDSP come out, and then we find out a few things. It's $60, like $30 more than the game it's remaking, but it removes the Game Corner. It removes the post-game apart from a Battle Tower which removes streaks and modes. It has no dual slot mode or Pal Park anymore, you have to use GO through a HOME subscription. The entire main story has Mt. Coronet removed, Eterna Forest removed, Wayward Cave removed, Ravaged Path, Oreburgh Gate, Oreburgh Mine, Iron Island, etc. Areas with multiple routes between them have been reduced to one overly-simplified route. The game teleports you to the next location if it isn't immediately ahead of you like Canalave and blocks off optional paths. And then they charge you another $30 to get post-game content back, but it's not even dungeons but raid battles.
