How does this even happen? The common theory is that shinies are a pallete swap, so how come Pokemon that are the same color can end up with different shinies?

In first generations they were palette swaps, but surely after gen3 that changed. Surely that's why many pokemon from first two generations have their shiny colors changed, like charizard and hitmonchan

Shinies used to be determined by a program. They weren't hand-selected or designed (aside from a select few like Charizard post gen 2) until gen 7.

This was fixing what had been lost over the generations tho, and they didn't even do the full job. It's originally shiny had a lighter coat, and red legs, they only fixed the legs.

I'm an unironic Charizardfag who loves a red and black colour scheme and yet this does nothing for me. I don't know if it's the autism of it not being yellow or something, I don't get it.
