it's obvious that old canon were very different, many ideas changed with every new generation
generation 1 (and 2 probably) lore is not a lore built around the idea of legendary pokémon being gods, creators of time, space and universe, same with a lot of things like clothes
the idea of different timelines is good if fans are smart enough to separate the background totally, considering the context of every era of pokémon as a franchise.
And not stupid things like "oh well gen 1 and 2 world must have its own Arceus etc etc", no idiot, that wasn't the idea
