Funny, I got mine 6 weeks after launch off-the-shelf where I lived. That coupled with Nintendo knowing they will sell a large first-run handily (WiiU's costly storage hurt them, leading to Switch's smaller box and first run, to minimise storage costs if it didn't take) means there's a greater likelihood there will be stock enough. So long as you can actually afford to buy one when time comes.

The 3DS was also selling gangbusters and it never stopped Nintendo from making the New 3DS and all of its variations, which didn't affect sales in the slightest. A Switch Pro isn't gonna do that more damage at all.

A revision was always going to happen, Wii got one, every handheld Nintendo ever made got at least one and had WiiU not utterly failed, they'd have run a WiiU upgrade too, likely (maybe launching BotW alongside it, had it not been a dead ecosystem by the time they had it ready, making them delay it for Switch instead and try and give that a lifeline).

Nah, don't see it. It's the same situation as when they had the DS in development, they were going to call it Game Boy DS" then got worried they'd tank the GB brand name if it failed. WiiU's revision wouldn't have been put a console into a handheld (they still had 3DS pulling that duty) and calling the evolution "Wii-anything" was toxic so re-branded, even if it was borne out of WiiU's lessons.

Hell the stuff on Switch probably would've run better on the Wii U. The indieshit that got moved to the Switch (Yooka-Laylee, Bloodstained, etc) that allegedly had issues running on Wii U barely run on Switch, and way more impressive stuff ran on the Wii U. The only reason it lacked third party support is because it was a flop and third party titles didn't meet sales expectations, not because the console wasn't powerful enough. I think BOTW even had better performance on Wii U, it just didn't look as nice.

This is true, im convinced they cut off the gamepad exclusive features from the Wii U version of BOTW because it would have have cannibalized switch hardware sales too much.

You can't grab your whole PC and all of its accesories with just two hands while lying on the couch. I agree emulation and PC gaming provide a far more convinient experience for the player, but console gaming has its own charm.
