i want to buy a new game for my switch. im between this and Mario Odyssey. because third world i can't buy many full price games so i want something that has a lot of content. the New Snap seems fun and i really want it but im worried it's short, or there's not too much content.
have anons played it? is it as fun as the original? share your opinions.

I've played both games and both are really good, so any choice is good. Snap could look short but trying to fill every request and getting every star for all mons takes a lot of time. After using guides for the most difficult interactions it took me around 100 hours tho.

Having just replayed Odyssey, I can address that it is an absolutely amazing game chock to the brim with collectibles, costumes, and sidequests. The story is short but there is a lot of replayabiility. Each world is unique and has its own conventions and rules. You spend just enough time in the levels for them to be memorable but not enough time that it drags out. There are some surprisingly challenging moons for serious players. You also have Luigi’s Balloon World for costumes.
New Snap has you go through the same levels over and over for interactions. Odyssey gives you levels that provide flexibility and freedom in clearing them, so no exact visit and revisit is the same. Odyssey gives you two or three general goalposts for each world but you can clear them on your own time. You can navigate and explore the entire world without going to the goalpost. Every time you clear a goalpost such as beating a mini boss, the level changes and many moons and coins that were previously unavailable to you open up. Odyssey is rated as one of the best Switch games and one of the best Mario games. The only real flaw is that it is short.

I don't think shortness or lack of replayability is an issue of either game. However Snap has a higher risk of not clicking with you.

Maybe try emulating Snap 64 first? If you really like the idea go for the new one. Otherwise Mario is safer.

Mario Odyssey should definitely be the priority. New Snap is nice comfort food, but that doesn't really compare to a very solid entry in the best 3D platforming series of all time.

So, if you want to play a relaxing game, take snap, but if you want a great experience, Mario is the answer

Both are worth it. New Snap is surprisingly much better than I thought it would be, I was expecting more of the same stuff from the original Snap but the game is packed with dozens of hidden discoveries you'll never find unless you interact with Pokemon in very specific ways. IIRC Serebii still hasn't found all of them yet.

Honestly, go with your gut feeling. Like >>47285932 said, both games are really worth it. It just depends on what you wanna try first since both games offer really good experiences, just in different ways. With Odyssey, you'll get a much more action-oriented experience, while New Snap will give you a much more relaxed, cozy experience.

I actually ended up sinking more hours into Pokemon Snap than Mario Odyssey. If you want to get 4-star pictures for every Pokemon, you can definitely get your money's worth with Pokemon Snap.

Having said that, Mario Odyssey is a better game, arguably one of the best games of the generation. If you had to pick one, I'd recommend that. It's the sort of game I'll replay a few times in the future. I've got a lot of hours out of Pokemon Snap but now that I've completed the photodex I don't see myself replaying it desu.

I finished Snap yesterday and I would say that the game is fun and all, but a little too pricey and certainly not for everyone. If you like to see cute interactions, shoot some pictures and has the money to pay it, go for it.

Otherwise, wait for a discount to happen maybe in a year or so. I expect them to also release some DLC to it in the next 6 months as well, only a matter of time

Depends on what you like. I have a lot of fun trying to beat scores and discover interactions on my own, so I've put quite a lot of time into it already. There's a ridiculous amount of little interactions so I'm always trying to figure something out. But I know a lot of people unlock all the levels and then are satisfied with hardly touching it again. If you're a completionist who wants to do everything on your own with no help and enjoys the idea of taking photos of pokemon on a rail then it's a great time.

Odyssey is also really fun, one of my favorite platformers in a while. Probably a safer bet since you have a better idea of what you're getting out of it.

Ok, both games have the same price tag, but my expectations are so different for both of them. Odyssey, to me, feels rushed, I don't like the broodals, music is not as good and 3D World seemed to be a much more memorable and well thought game. Going to New Donk City, have Pauline as the mayor and DONKEY KONG NOT BEING AN ACTUAL BOSS IN THE GAME is a giant tragedy to me. What the fuck, Nintendo?!

Meanwhile, New Snap is so charming. Of course it's a game far from being perfect and fit for everyone's tastes like Odyseey is, but for what they were purposed to offer, I think Bamco did a pretty good job at that.

Do you want to play a good video game with varied environments and lots of interactivity or the safari simulator that make you reoeat the same level over and over again for a few different change ? People here like pokemon snap cause they really only play pokemon so obviously snap is a masterpiece compared to the main series. Ask this question everywhere else and people would laugh at you
