I understand why they wanted to hide some mons in Kanto as a little incentive or reward to keep exploring and hunting for rare pokemon, but its annoying that any time you start up a GSC run you just know you cannot use a few of the really cool johto new additions because they're in fucking Kanto at level 29 and your whole team is level 50 by the time you find them and fuuuuuck that shit

I've started editing roms myself to tweak some of gamefreaks more retarded decisions. Considering Magcargo has stats that aren't that much more than a fucking Quilava I see no reason not to let it evolve in the mid 20s

I really wonder what they were thinking with some of these evolutions....I guess because you get slugma at like 29-32 or something I think they were like ok let him use slugma for a few levels then he evolves at 38 that's fair. But if you're honestly trying to use it from an egg at the start of the game, it absolutely sucks balls and won't evolve until gym 8....

Well it's a fictional creature, a collectible monster. The only thing that needs to be good is its design. They're not all supposed to be great competitively.

Duals types already get Dual STAB do making their STAB stronger just makes Monotypes even worse. I like the idea of weaknesses maxing out at 3 times though. Though Magcargo needs massive boosts to its defenses one top of that to be able to survive anything (430 BST is pitiful)

Caught Slugma in colosseum as a kid before I bothered learning type weaknesses. Could never understand why he always died so hard back then. Design wise it's great but it doesn't matter how much defense it has when it has two 4xs
