Man I love BASEDlar so much>Biggest region to date with 2 mini regions >You can actually see pokemon out in the overworld instead of having to deal with boring random encounters >Characters are kino, they all have their arcs and good designs >Best gym system in the series, actually trying something different by making it a big deal and changing the elite 4 to a tournament where you fight 6 trainers instead of 4 >You're bored of the main story? It's okay man, just go back to the wild area and do some raids >You can camp and cook by finding ingredients, adding more personality to each pokemon as well as 151 curries of content >Main gimmick is actually balanced instead of being given to already OP legendaries or simply being a nuke button >Strongest region to date, hosting the strongest champion and gym leaders who could be champions >Has league cards which flesh out the characters and give them back stories instead of the literal who gym leaders in gens 1-4 >Great for competitive pokemon, with an actual ranking system as well as bottle caps, TRs, and mints allowing all your bros to become properly trained with little effort >Brought back following Pokemon >Brought back jerk rivals >Brought back apricorn balls >Added things to do online other than just battling and trading >Added marks >Added Brilliant Pokemon >Added square shinies >Has fun minigames like Rotom Rally >Has fun side quests like finding 100 Diglett and finding the footprints of the Swords of Justice >Is still being updated with new events to this day, over a year and a half after release >Has 4 battle facilities that each operate different, basically a Battle Frontier >Useless bloat moves that have no reason to exist were finally cut (Barrier, Foresight, Constrict etc.) Yeah I'm thinking KINO

Most of what you wrote has nothing to do with the Galar region. Outside of the DLC, Galar is a barren wasteland. There are zero branching routes to explore, zero side cities, zero side buildings, zero side quests. The game is walking a straight line with no chance to get lost or find something new

>removed bullshit SOS mechanics from previous gen >now more convenient than ever to level up Pokemon and make them competitively viable in the postgame >severely cut back on mindless grinding in general >had top tier DLC areas >includes more capturable Pokemon than any previous gen despite the whole dexit debacle >dynamax provides more utility than Z moves via raids and rare Pokemon with excellent stats >FOLLOWING POKEMON (you mentioned this but it bares repeating) If the national dex wasn't cut I guarantee it would have been more positively received.

Random encounters are better to me cause the Pokemon don't feel alive in the overworld. Is following Pokemon still broken? I don't obsess over this garbo gamu so I don't know.

>>47285694 Not really, it's kind of a muted surprise compared to the screen wiping and the battle music kicking in and then seeing it

>>47285777 wasted trips, there's only so long you can hold a surprise before it fades, and you want it to hold until the release of catching it. so the longer you put off the 'wow', the better. you see videos of people seeing shiny pokemon in the overworld? it's just not the same.

>>47285645 That's a terrible excuse because you'll get that thrill outside of the encounter as others have already said.
Random encounters are garbage and need to fucking go. There's a reason the majority of game franchises left this shit in the 90's.
