Charizard pandering has been annoying ever since Gen 5

>Gen 5: Anime brings back Charizard for no reason during the Team Plasma and Decolore arcs, only for it not to really do anything, it was just there
>Gen 6: Charizard gets two Megas, two mini-series (Origins and Mega Evo Specials)
>Gen 7: We get a break from the Charizard shilling here, it's just a Ride Pokemon

Charizard was just another Pokemon until late Gen 5

The writers knew about Gen 6 by that point, so that's why Charizard was there; to advertise Charizard in preparation for its upcoming Mega forms

I always have two Charizards in any multiplayer Pokemon game I play. Pixelmon, Pokemon MMO, you jake it. I always pick Charmander as a starter given the option. I always beeline straight to Leon’s room for my Charmander in Sword. I always play Sword with a team full of Charizards rounded out by Venusaur and Blastoise. I’m a simple man, and it’s fun to watch people seethe over my enjoyment of the Zard.

in the games, Charizard is pretty fine, decent stats for single player, ok move pool. Getting 2 megas was absolutely dumb, especially when one just turns it into a physical attacker and makes it look shiny, if it only had one mega it probably wouldn't be too bad

It's just boring, that's why. It get tiresome when for the pat 6-7 years, Charizard has been on the main stage. It's repetitive and stale to see the same Pokemon get all the attention when other Pokemon are just as worthy. Kinda tragic to say that it's unrealistic for something like Empoleon to get some shilling of its own when gen 4 itself isn't in the same conversation.
Like, I like Charizard, but give it a break. Surely Charizard's dick is sore by now from all the jerking off, right?
