>>47302227> Let's be real a majority of people who played pokemon for the RPG aspect never cared for the competitive format and IV breeding/EV training pokemonWell I'm the minority then. Always enjoyed putting time and building my teams, made it feel more meaningful through the effort. It's not just one playthrough and done, I enjoyed building up my collection through different games, I had like 4 boxes of EV trained Pokemon by gen 7.
I did appreciate some of the streamlining in gen 6 and 7 (gen 6 was the sweet spot, 7 went backwards a bit) but Sword/Shield went overboard and didn't even wait until postgame to allow you to get almost infinite EXP and EVs despite the game being the easiest in the series. It's almost impossible to get a challenge out of the SWSH campaign.
At this point they need to separate competitive Pokemon and make an official simulator like Stadium so that they stop feeling like trivializing the RPGs for the sake of competitive players who don't care about it. I used to care about both aspects of the game but now I don't care about either.
