No. Game Freak needs to improve. You would hate their new 2D games. It's a fundamental change in their philosophy, not the technicals of the game engine.
ps. gen 4/5 use 3D models everywhere

Octopath is so fucking disgusting. Bloom everywhere, really assetdump-looking blocky world meshes, and aside from the one image you posted most of the world is ugly and brown/grey.

It's hard to understand the mindset of releasing an inferior product compared to what you already have because it's new.

I dont have a switch nor money, but if i had i wouldnt buy the remake because it looks really bad compared to the source material.

I think it would be cheaper for them and better if they just released the DS version with some improvements like widescreen...
