Just hack it. There are no new games for it and people barely play any 3DS games online anymore, so there's no reason to worry about hacking.

the real 3ds basically had actual ds hardware crammed inside it for backwards compatibility, unlike the gamecube/wii that were similar enough to both use one emulator

mostly battle mechanic tweaks
