So long as access to pc's remains free you can still heal your pokemon for free so long as it isn't using gen 1 mechanics, it would just be more tedious.

So long as physically entering a centre doesn't cost money you could enter the building, access the pc, place the pokemon into a box then withdraw them and the pokemon will be restored as if it was done normally.

Pokecare is covered by government funds. The funds come from "steep" taxes on things like pokeballs, potions, and other trainer-related goods.
Presumably pokemon restoration isn't really that expensive assuming they can just be converted into data and rebooted.

Berries and the healing machine only restore their energy so they can fight gain quicker. For the most part, Pokemon don't actually get hurt in battle, just tired. Actual injuries and illness require medical attention just like in real life.

That's like the entire point of the Pokemon trainer card in the games

I imagine you need to have said card or you cant buy from marts or get your pokemon healed

Sure you could borrow someones Pokeballs or just steal/take from others but it won't be legit until you've been granted an offical trainers card

Honestly, 500 PokéBucks is a pretty good price for Max Revive + Full Heal + Max Elixir on all of your Pokémon, but it obviously is a better deal for trainers with more Pokémon. Plus, since you have to pay some money to whoever beats you, it's very possible that newbie trainers might not even be able to afford that much to heal their Pokémon properly after losing a battle.

In a standard knights and sorcery rpg, Inns are basically the same function as Pokemon Centers, and universally cost money. Usually the inns get more expensive in later towns as you progress through the game

Even for someone with only one Pokemon, 500 Poke could get you two regular Potions or a Super Potion, pretty sure. And that doesn't cover the Revive, Full Heal, or Elixir part.

I remember a rom hack making it so you couldn't leave a gym once you entered it, i.e. couldn't go back to the center after every battle.
