Nobody hates Charizard, people hate the constant Charizard shilling to the point it overshadows anything new. It feels like they don't have any confidence in their new material and have to rely on a brand icon again and again.
Charizard in Gen I

>Potentially the starter you choose (1/3)
>Potentially the starter the rival chooses (1/3, mutually exclusive)
>One guy uses Charizard other than that
Gen II
>Appears in the intro (originally Venusaur and Blastoise were supposed to appear as well)
>Appears on Lance's team (Champion Trainer with a team themed around dragons)
>Appears on Red's team (ura boss Trainer that has the other starters too)
>Can't even catch it except through backwards compatibility
>Has a unique menu sprite and Poké Doll
Gen III
>Completely absent in RSE outside of Battle facilities
>Same amount of focus in the remakes as the original games, except it appears in the credits with the other starters and on the FireRed title screen

>Completely absent in DPPt outside of Battle facilities
>Removed from the intro in HGSS, same amount of appearances except you can obtain a Kanto starter from Oak after beating Red
