I would be perfectly content if the general gameplay and progression were the same as Gens 1-6 forever, but not only is it functionally different now, there is quantifiably less to the games in terms of features and content.
It's disgusting. Kids don't like the new direction, old fans don't like it, the only people deluding themselves into believing the current direction is good are the idiots who never played a game prior to SM or the "journalists" like Joe that will defend anything so long as new product brings their site traffic.
