Needlessly shoehorned in shit like this tells me the creator has no writing chops and they need to rely on shock value and being "too explicit for mainstream media" to get any attention. Like fuck, I'll watch ecchi and over the top gorey anime because it's a fun time, but if a story is trying to be serious, like a fantasy epic, and it's just NSFW stuff that has little to no story relevance you're wasting my time. Imagine if the Lord of the Rings movies were 30 hours instead of 10 because they were padded with sex scenes and a bunch of filler shit that added nothing important to the overall story or experience.
