I have a bachelor's degree that has done literally nothing for me and have been happily working the same labor job for nearly a decade. Find 2-3 people you can trust as roommates, all of you get the hell out of the city, and find halfway decent jobs that will pay rent and not rob you of your soul in the process.
I know it's easier said than done, especially if you've already made financial commitments in the city, but that's one solution.
