I've thought about getting it, but I'm not confident enough that I'd enjoy it to justify buying it. I guess I could emulate it to test the waters.

i sure enjoyed it. i think it gets unnecessary hate. it wasn’t perfect and the first island is VERY slow but it picks up after that.

Did you buy/play SM?
If your answer to that is no, then you have SOME incentive to at least.
Either way, you might be able to get a used copy relatively cheap compared to what the price once was if emulation isn't an option.

The story is worse than SM's but honestly, in terms of gameplay and fun-factor, I got a hell of a lot more fun with the Ultras. Especially due to the Ultra Warpride allowing for Legendary and UB hunting, Episode RR (which felt like fanservice heaven) and the Gladion title defence match.

I actually like how difficult Ultra is and the Dex is alright, but Lillie just fucking ruins everything
