Say there was a hypothetical successor to BW2/BW in some way which completed the story of the Tao Trio. Which design principle & lore would you prefer?

Out of those, Vahirom and the one in the top right are my favorites design wise. Lore wise, I think it would be cool if they confirmed or gave more credence to the theory that the original dragon was a creation dragon representing energy.

The lore of the top right one is actually similar to the creation trio, and you can kinda get that vibe from it's facial design being similar to the creation dragons.

The artist actually didn't specifically mention it being the O_D, but considering the typing Fire/Electric, subtle tail theme, & lore, it's obvious that's what they where aiming for: https://www.deviantart.com/hyshirey/art/God-of-Power-518178001 Pretty much exactly as you said, surprised how popular that theory is.

While I agree too many "original dragons" look too much like Kyurem, I feel like it makes sense to have SOME resemblance to it, as the husk had to come from somewhere. Cicada shells and stuff bare some likeness to the original creature, after all.
I like the one to the bottom right of Vahirom. Looks faintly like Kyurem, where you can picture the Kyurem we know being a husk of it, while the artist also tied it into Arceus and the creation trio by giving it a similar face.

Something that doesn’t look like a literal three way splice of its components. It should resemble them in parts, but it should look natural since it isn’t a union of three original beings but the reunion of three divided beings into one original.

Normal/Dragon, ability ignores other abilities but also gives STAB on Fire/Ice/Electric. Probably has a long neck like Kyurem’s forms, hopefully a GAD.

My theory is that White/Black Kyurem has to create ice versions of half its limbs is because Reshiram and Zekrom only form the left and right side of its original form. So the result would look more like pick related

This. The original dragon isn't supposed to look like any of them directly, only vaguely. It would probably be multicolored or golden.

Curious, what's the lore? I've seen a few old designs where artist gave it a Kirin shape but could never understand why. They typically looked nothing like the tao dragons so I dismissed them.

The Kyurem fusions would imply the OD at least had a normal draconic shape, no?

None of them, the OD is never coming back.
An actual successor would give reshiram and zekrom brand new forms based on what they've seen and learned on their travels outside of unova, moving towards the future not dredging up the past and forcing the OD to come back.

Your idea does work for the original dragon having a different appearance than its past self based on what it learned when separated.
