>>47356056Based as hell. I always pick the Grass starter on my first playthrough, and am an especially big fan of Venusaur since it's the only Kanto starter I don't think is retarded. Blastoise is just a turtle with cannons, and Charizard is just a generic dragon with a flame on its tail, but Venusaur is a big frog/reptile monster and shows the most natural progression in its evolution. The plant on the Bulbasaur line's back blooms more with each evolution. In Gen VI and VII I used Charizard more in Wi-Fi battles because Mega Charizard X was a pretty solid Dragon Dance mon, and with Charizard Y I used it and Venusaur as part of a sun team.

Mascot of Red version, and Ash's powerhouse Pokémon in the first couple seasons of the anime, you get gifted Charmander in Yellow, and Charizard was one of the most broken cards in the early TCG. These things are what made it popular, and because it's so popular it's constantly being shilled.
