catch everything you see that looks cool (Kalos has a LOT of Pokemon in it)
rotate between them freely
don't use the free kanto starter or lucario

Make sure you keep the PSS on since it manages to be even more active than the Y-Comm or Festival Plaza nowadays.
With Exp. Share off it's pretty standard fare, definitely the easiest of the golden era games but at the same time XY was never going to compare to BW2 anyway so you might as well just enjoy it for what it is.

I haven’t played my old copy of sapphire since I was a child. Every time I wanted to play in Hoenn, I reached for my emerald cart the past few years, and I had several playthroughs of it (nuzlockes, comfy runs etc).
I decided I would play my old sapphire cart just for the hell of it and I was really surprised! I honestly feel like ruby & sapphire did a lot right compared to emerald.
>no regional Pokémon left out between two games
>far less trainers
>no mandatory double battles except for gym 7
>enemy team stories feel more concise and focused when separated
>no constant pokenav harassment
>no constant stopping every town to talk to Scott
Sure, emerald gives you a lot more experience to work with, and some of the added double battles are challenging and fun, but I really like the streamlined and focused feel here.

Put about 50 hours into Crystal recently. Dex is around 180, I’m looking to complete it but I think I did too much too soon and I’m taking break. Now I’m about 50 hours into Shield but I’m gonna go back to at the very least Stadium 2 soon. My gf is on her very first play through of Yellow and I think she beat misty most recently. She only played like 10 hours of red as a kid and that was all bc her family was very poor. I’m happy to see her enjoying it.

Holy shit is it good to see /rpg/ again!

Last time I posted in one of these was almost a year ago, I had just gotten a copy of Platinum and done a poison monotype run because I don’t give poison mons enough love. Now I’m starting White 2 and I’m wondering, did I fuck up by selling my copy of White as a kid?

Not really. White 2 is more of an enhanced version than a sequel. Maybe if you are interested in story though, you should play the first White.

You need the hotspot to not have a password. That's the only way I got gen 4 to work.

White 2 is essentially a different game, though the basis of the region is the same, you get a lot of different pokemon choices, different gym order and a different story.

I just learned how to do math to figure out the possible I.V's my Pokemon has based on their base stats and current stats. Algebra is so cool. I use the following Python Code:

def solve_for_iv(base, current, lvl, effort, nature):
for x in range (0,32):
stat = math.floor(math.floor((2*base+x+effort)*lvl/100+5)*nature)

I went out and caught some Foongus in Pokemon White to go determine their I.V's, and this guy's pretty good.

Foongus - Level 30 - Proud of its Power
Hasty
HP: 87 - 19,20,21
Attack: 47 - 30
Defense: 35 - 24,25,26 (-Nature)
SP Attack: 45 - 24,25,26
SP Defense: 46 - 27,28,29
Speed 22 - 20,21,22,23 (+Nature)
