A lot of it is probably just nostalgia.

I remember playing Crystal for the first time and it felt mystical. The ruins, unown, the forest, Suicune...There was this aura of mystery around it that the remakes don't capture.

Granted I was a kid so that probably plays a bigger role in it

Because HGSS is absolutely horrible, importing all the myriad flaws of DPPt while providing no actual advantages outside of shit tier gimmicks like the Pokewalker. I haven't played LGPE, but that aside I can say with confidence that HGSS is by far the worst remake in the series so far.

Yes Stadium 2 was the pinacle of pokemon kino, great battles, great animations, "advanced" battle tutorials, mystery gift was actually impactful as items weren't spoonfed in main game.
