I dont see the issue. Sure no stab but its still 130 base power with 100% accuracy. Seems pretty good on paper

Eh, Overheat can still do good damage even at -2.
Burn Up is more like an Explosion with fewer drawbacks, in that you can only use it once per switch. Power should be a little higher to reflect that, say 150.

Didn't play SwSh, thought this was a good move until that.
tbf it lets you stay in on fire-counters, but I can't think of anything that would give enough of a shit about that to run it.

It's also why we got 3 Grass-type moves that are designed for low levels in the form of Vine Whip, Leafage, and Branch Poke, the latter 2 being back-to-back in generations. Watch as we'll get another in Gen 9 like the Fire/Fighting staters for Gens 3, 4, & 5.

I think so. the problem is the Game Freak decided to be clever and give Arcanine Burn Up too and since Arcanine has Morning Sun, it actually use the gimmick correctly, Except Arcanine doesn’t even use that gimmick anyways because its movepool is already amazing.

Arcanine sometimes uses Burn Up in NU as a way to wall as a typeless mon with Morning Sun recovery, Toxic and Intimidate. Not the most common set but it works.

Arcanine, Moltres, Typhlosion, Ho-oh and others get stuff like Burn Up, Eruption, Inferno and maybe Lava Plume
