SMT is linear in general it's not meant to be open world. Also anyone expecting this to be anything like Pokemon is gonna be disappointed, Demons are tools you regularly replace.

This. You don‘t have a connection with demons like you have with pokemon. Also smt has like what, 100 demons? Pokemon has 100 plus old ones every generation. And all of them need to be tested.

Why bother? People will simply buy whatever the newest Pokemon game is. The Megami Tensei series has sold 17.4 million in 31 years, but 21 million have bought Sword & Shield in just two years. Sw&Sh has a well-deserved reputation as the shittiest game in the series and was controversial before it even came out, but people can't stop eating it up. Consumers gonna consume. There's no point trying to make a super-great game because everyone is going to buy it anyways.
