>>47384902My biggest issue is that they keep tying the movement/storage of pokemon to live services just to milk more money out of people.
There is zero reason pokébank or pokétransfer or pokéhome need to be a service otherwise. It's all a hamfisted attempt to hold your pokemon collection hostage, and it's so blatant that it really sours the games for me.
One of the things I always loved about pokemon is that it felt like with each new generation I was building on what I did before. By the time gen 6 rolled around I felt great about my pokemon collection.
Then they decided to charge me 5 dollars to buy a pokebank sub just to transfer my pokemon, under the guise of a storage feature that not a single person uses. I was a little upset but I can throw them a bone.
Then they deliberately took away the ability to keep all your pokemon in-game, forcing you to use their shitty sub-model. It all feels so malicious. It's clearly designed to target people with attachment and exploit the shit out of it for the low, low price of 5 bucks a month.
I can still enjoy the games somewhat.
But I will NEVER have the attachment to them that I did from generation 1-5 as long as Gamefreak is happy designing games meant to take advantage of you fiscally.
I swear the world developed a findom fetish somewhere in 2010 and it's been getting worse and worse as the years go by, I'm just upset something as special to me as pokemon got wrapped up in it.
