You don't need the passes to feel content with your purchase. Base Ultimate is a complete game. Plus the passes also come with a fuckton of music which would probably cost more if you bought them separately

In a fighting game you kind of do. It's the main reason I'm done with Smash now, it clearly only exists to be a DLC fighter vehicle now. I have a hard time getting attached to games that ask me to keep spending infinite money on things that I don't think are worth infinite money.

Are you retarded? You can buy the extra characters you like seperately. Plus you dont need all the characters to particpate in any online activity, no one is forcing you to the get the passes. Ultimate might be the one Switch game that its base content is worth more than $60 imo. DLC extends the lifespan of games and when that DLC is optional its win-win. You’re probably done with Smash for another reason and think this excuse is better lol

SWSH’s content is on par with the 3DS Pokemon titles which were all $40. There are even fewer availble Pokemon than XY and SM in base game. But I guess Dynamax and the half baked raid battles make up for the extra $20

I don't understand, why do you need to get the new DLC fighter? I pick and choose the ones I want, Byleth is fucking garbage so I didn't buy him. Your complaint would only make sense if you needed the DLC to fight against Byleth (ironically, which is how it worked with the 3DS Pokemon games) but that's not the case either.

The only other instance I can see you "needing" the DLC is if you want to use them to learn the MU but even then there are multiple resources you can use to just grind a matchup.

Look, I agree Smash Ultimate is a better experience than SwSh, but don't try and pretend nearly every avenue of the single player experience wasn't shaved off of it. The game is fucking worthless for single player, literally only Smash 64 has had less single player content.
