I happen to like the girly fairies we usually get rather a lot. Ignoring that, what are some more ideas for Fairy Types that are grim and gritty or at least distinctly non-feminine?

I want a Rock gnome, based on a stalagmite, that evolves into a manly bearded dwarf.
