Make a good game with a good story. Add cute and cool monsters and waifus. Wanna compete with pokemon? Make it free and make it on mobile. Add multiplayer in real time so people can hang out, and voice chat or text chat to dab on pokemon. Fund it with sexy outfit DLC or something.

Save your money, think harder of a better concept and try and go balls-to-the-wall with that. The factors that gave rise to Pokémon will never occur again, it was lighting in a bottle and best you can hope for is try and create your own different strike of lightning to cash in on. The minute you get slapped with "pokémon clone" you're dead in the water.
