Everything I can find suggests that it is most likely taken from the root words arch, archon, archaic, arcane, arkhe (greek for beginning) and some shit about Zeus and Deus. It doesn't appear to reference anything in the Japanese language, at least insofar as I can find. If I had to venture a guess, I would say that maybe it's possible that the writers did not know the correct pronunciation of these words when they started the transliteration process. Or maybe is A-ru-ke-u-su sounds like something inappropriate or silly in Japanese. I really have no way of knowing, but all the data seems to suggest that's where the pun is coming from
