Yeah, it would have been an interesting twist honestly. Like how they didn't show up in the final battle with all the other gym leaders to help them. Too bad they explain it away conveniently in BW2, almost like they deliberately got rid of the idea.

Except from the perspective of creating a game, there was no reason to leave the brothers out of the final fight. The gym leaders were obligated to be there and the Striaton brothers were not. Sure, it isn't enough by itself, top it off with additional evidence in this thread.

There's also the fact that you said that the similarities were intended. Why would they go out of there way to tell us that they aren't the same people in a feature not many would use, if they were intended to be the same people? If anything they would do the opposite.

That's the point of the thread, to discuss what possibly made the devs decide to not go this sinister route and specifically debunk it. To me, them debunking it is an official acknowledgment that at least the theory existed, because they went out of their way to debunk it much later.

It could be as simple as GF not wanting to overload the script with giving 3 more characters lines and stuff to do, but I do prefer the theory that they’re the same. Wouldn’t be the first time you can spot hints of what GF planned to do that were scrapped last minute.
