>>47420039While the writing in PokeSpe is better than the anime, it is still far from being good. The most-praised first volumes are actually full of bullshit. I am especially annoyed with Kusaka's fondness of unwarranted destruction (like, Kanto wrecked entirely by Elite Four with their ridiculous motives [on top of various acts of random destruction in earlier volumes], that random Ecruteak earthquake caused by... a fuckin' Piloswine, or Vaniville being destroyed by Team Flare and the inhabitants abducted), as well as villain-izing the characters (though he largely gave up on this later on).
PokeSpe's appeal is something else, not the writing. It's the fact that it is the most complete long-running adaptation of the Pokemon world, showcasing all important characters, locations and plots from the games. It's not word-for-word literal, it has its occasional inaccuracies and its own plotline which tends to deviate from the games cliches, but for sure it is the most content-packed adaptation, which usually delivers in the aspects in which the anime doesn't, making it fulfill its role as a game adaptation pretty well. This is the reason why I like PokeSpe, I never cared about its plotline too much.
The sad exception to the above is the BW2 saga, whose serialization process was a dumpster fire ridden with hiati and other problems, eventually resulting in a half-baked, abruptly-ended arc with many of Unova's attractions omitted (most notably the PWT, which I was excited for). Absolutely blueballed.
