>>47420511>consuming other works seems like kind of an important part of learning to make anything creativeI've already listened to enough music to know what the standards are, and I get exposed to it involuntarily everyday from other people playing music so I know what the trends are. It's all the same shit really, has been ever since consumerism took off in the mid 1900s and music became a product over art. I'm not claiming I'm the next Mozart or anything, to be honest, my music is just as formulaic and boring as anything else nowadays, I just like making whatever I wanna make.
I already know the formula to making a good song ("good" by today's standards), that's enough for me. Reading up on advanced theory is much more interesting and beneficial to me than listening to the same 4 chords and structures every day.
>I'm not sure why you would be interested in making something you don't enjoy to begin withI do enjoy it though. I enjoy music production, I just don't enjoy LISTENING to music.
