Pokémon was aiming for the opposite with Greninja however, keeping the Pokémon animalistic design as the cover and simply adding elements from the trainer (Ash' hat)... that's probably how Gamefreak would do it to allow fusion being generic, just having certain clothing carry to the mon. But I don't like it.
I prefer a standardized Armor design that's as unisex as possible, since GF wouldn't be assed to do different designs based on the trainer's gender (BUT IMAGINE IF THEY DID!? I MEAN MINSTER HUNTER HAS DIFFERENT ARMOR SETS FOR MALE AND FEMALE)
