>>47435940Wild Area would feel empty. It's the bad part of open world. You can't really fix it. Remember San Andreas? It has the same flaws, areas being empty. But we don't see it like that because the core gameplay of stealing cars and driving your way freely can mask that flaw. In pokemon we don't have gameplay interactions with the open world, so it can't be masked. You will either battle that random mon that spawned or flee.
Wild Area is a cool concept, but unless GF brings more options than fighting wild pokemon it won't matter. Maybe have interactions with them, you know asking for help and such. And if they are in the mood you get a item they found. If you happen to help them instead maybe also you get a wild mon to show their resting spot that works like a gen 5 grotto, and you can find some goods there and revisit that location from a menu. Have NPCs mention the possibility and then have the player find those out. You know, like a adventure.
