Is Johto the only region where route 1 (it's version of route 1) is one of it's best routes?
Seriously most routes in johto are smaller and less complex than this.

Route 201 is not bad either since it connects to the lake, Twinleaf and Sandgem and has ledges to use as shortcuts. Not to mention a huge patch of grass for Pokeradar.

I liked Johto's first route, it feels layered and is actually a sizable route and not just a short bridge to the next town like most other regions. Never gave it a whole lot of thought before, though. The connection to Route 45 is also nice and a good way of teasing the player and getting them wondering about what's up there that they can't reach yet.

I always loved the route 45 tease even as a kid. As subtle as it was, it really sparked the imagination and had me like "damn, wonder what's up there?" Johto was good at little exploration things like that.

a pointless feature that doesn't give us mewtwos or charizards or widespread pvp because of the lack of wifi integration in gen 3. if you made a base right after getting the TM for it and ignored it once you walked out of it the first time, the rest of the spots throughout the game are pointless.
