You would think one appeal of a remake would be to use new pokemon in the old games but they went way out of their way to prevent you from doing that.

Unlocking new evolutions in the post-game while at the same time discovering "new" Pokemon was kino and in touch with the atmosphere and feeling that Tajiri crafted for the first two gens where new Pokémon are being discovered in real time by the player. Wish they had an option to turn evolutions on or off though for later playthroughs but it's still cool to run through the E4 with unevolved mons which suddenly evolve for the rematch. The game doesn't end at the first E4 run so this was never a big deal to me even though it was admiteddly pretty clumsily executed.

They should have allowed trading with RSE from the start though.

I played and replayed yellow infinite times when I was like 17 or so. Has nothing else. I am tired of gen 1, all I want is to train teams for stadium and to be done with those. They feel extremely outdated and the lack of running shoes doesn't help.
