I tried replaying this game and Black this year and I have come to the conclusion that Pokémon was never good. Dropped the games because they were so slow and boring, even by RPG standards. Pretty sure people just put up with shit games because of the love of the characters and concepts.

/vp/ is more entertaining than any Pokémon game. Which is fucking sad. This is how I interact with "the brand" (in addition to random merch), so I don't think the problem is with me. I love Pokémon. I don't like the games. and from all the constant bitching, I'm starting to think no one does. Just fanboys coping with the realization that baby games are for babies.

No I love Pokemon games. All of them, I even had a fun time with SwSh. I only get in genwars when someone says some incorrect shit or blatant nonsense. I'll admit genwars make me appreciate some things better but I don't really care for them. I don't know about the games being slow by rpg standards, I've been playing Strange Journey and DQV and encounters in those games are definitely more annoying.

Cyrus actually gets a little emotional in the story and he hates it so no I don't think he's hypocritical about it. He wants the world to belong to him only because he doesn't think his grunts meets his standards for the new world. Lysandre's standards are harder to figure out due to his grunts being rich assholes which should be the type of people he dislikes. I think Gamefreak just didn't want the genocidal character to have good standards.
