Sorry but a couple things I disagree with.
They're not the worst mainline games and nor do they have the worst fanbase. Pokemon SwSh are the worst pokemon mainline games and have the worst fanbase now.The anime was worse than other animes from Pokemon but not as bad as Pokemon SM anime or Journeys.

Not really, 3 was the start of the GBA era and a huge success with both critics and audience.

BW on the other hand, succeeded the peak HGSS, and failed so miserably that game freak had to hurry up in the DLC/third version to the point they just called "2"

They were ok, I actually played it twice. It was the game that threw me off the Pokémon bandwagon for almost a decade though. The series quality def took a nose dive with these.

I think Sword and Shield restored the quality. I like those games.

Because a lot of kids grew out of Pokemon after GS. Because people were more likely to have a GB/GBC at the time of RGBYGSC's releases than a GBA at the time of RSEFRLG's release since the console was a lot older and had a larger library of games at its time.

The Gen 3 games outsold every other game on its console by a significantly larger margin than any other Pokemon game manage to on their respective consoles. They carried the console they were released on.

I'm honestly surprised how frequently and militantly people hate Gen 5 on /vp/. I recall that people thought that some of the new mons were scraping the barrel, most infamously the Garbodor line. The sales weren't great, the anime was weak compared to Gen 4 and replaced Brock, but B/W was enjoyable and far from the worst generation, even disregarding Sw/Sh.

Oh wait, that's right, it still made them money, because the franchise was given indefinite rights to success thanks to Pokemania.
Literally nothing they can say or do will cause Pokemon to "die" unless they outright stop producing Pokemon media across the board.

At that time I lived and died for Pokemon, despite not even being able to play the games because my family couldn't get me a Game Boy, and Johto's filler hell made me completely lose interest and move on to Digimon.

Ironically, gen 3 made me come back but gen 6 killed it for me.
