I like the direction of BDSP and I am sick of people telling me I should be mad:

It's literally in the first trailer, so basically people are just criticizing subjectively based on the choice in art direction alone which is fine to some extent but saying it's outright bad is inmature, there's clearly an "upgrade" in graphics between swsh and bdsp regardless of the syle.

Same. Photorealism isn't important to me and I like the return of the grid overworld. What I care about is gameplay, features, and improvements to available Pokemon

The remakes look fine so far to me. It's nice to have some saturation back.

In terms of graphical fidelity, some people have said that, yes. Some others really want it to be a cel-shaded, highly bloomed style like that fanmade trailer, or how PLA seems to look. Similar to BOTW.
not my cup of tea either, but I don't think it's actively harmful to video games

The demand for photorealism is a problem for the game industry as a whole though, it's not just Pokemon.

No one wants Pokken like realism graphics. There should just be a standard and the the closest of the Switch games to hit a standard was Let's Go of all things.
The issues aren't even graphical though, it's performance which we have already seen is not good in PLA until they show if fixed or not.

I have not once seen anyone say or imply that. Plenty of people saying the bizarro lego duplo overworld models look weird, that it should have gone with or improved upon visuals from the other Switch Pokemon games, that the textures look strange, and that it's not comparable to other switch games, but nothing about photorealism. Now, I'm not saying that this doesn't mean there aren't people who said that, but it sounds like an even bigger minority than normal which is why leading with "photorealism" like it's an hotly debated issue concerning this series sounds... stupid?

Performance issues in PLA is a valid concern, I agree, but so far I have seen no issues with BDSP in that regard. Feel free to post any though, because I could have missed something.

BDSP being handled by a third party is a good sign for its performance. Bandai Namco did a good job with Snap, and that game is incredibly detailed. Obviously Bandai Namco and that UCLA or whoever aren't the same, but given GameFreak's history with optimization, there's a very low bar to meet.

But I digress, the issue most people are having with BDSP is the art direction. I simply don't hate it. It's a direction I find personally preferable, especially compared to the last remake of ORAS.

You're correct there are no visible performance issues with BDSP, from what we have seen.
I never really envisioned DP and all prior games as chibi so the presentation of BDSP really threw me off. Something is just off. I didn't enjoy ORAS however as something was also off about that.

Went back and looked at the trailer again, and I'm sorry anon, I don't think they look weird. It just looks like a 3d stylization of the 4th sprites. I find it rather cute honestly.

Honestly? Gimme something like Bastion or maybe Bravely Default. Not literally of course, something graphically like Let's Go would be fine, but I mean the way the atmosphere's set up. Sure, they map not change the maps themselves drastically, but sell me that we're in this world and not an RPG Maker tileset. Bring back the flow of npcs from Castelia City for more bustling place like Sunyshore. A place like Floroma could have rolling hills or something loosely similar to Unova Route 12. Maybe instead of the infinite grid sea of trees across the land it fades into a general canopy, and the grids could be less blatant. I dunno, maybe I'm just dumb.
