He wasn't wrong. Pokemon willingly serving their captors is literally Stockolm syndrome. It would impossible for a pokemon trainer to be a good person as they are forcing their rule over them and calling it "friendship" to make it sound acceptable. People in the Pokemon world really fucking suck.
