>>47456799Have to say Sword, due to it finally starting to match the vision I thought they'd take the series in a hell of a lot earlier.
But then again, I was 15 when it launched so missed out on the critical 6-12 yo brainwashing cycle so never really bothered too much that it did what it did, the core gameplay loop's still fun. Which is why I'm still here enjoying the games and laughing at the 20-somethings having existential crises as the one constant they'd built their lives around turned to be foundations of sand as the franchise up and left them for the younger generation (as always), leaving them to cry ineffectually to be the core focus again.
But really, I don't hate any pokémon game, there's a few I consider underwhelming alright, some are great and Sword just happens to be the best of the series so far, in my estimation as I said finally resembling the mental image I'd spawned when first playing Red. Graphics and gimmicks don't draw me, make me forget I'm sat at home playing a video game, draw me into this world you're presenting for a bit and I'll consider your game worth it and Pokémon still does that for me.
