>>47461655>I rarely see a unovatard insist their games are masterpiecesThis, I know they're not perfect. They're at least a little scuffed (in particular the very early part of the game is fucking awful to force a type matchup tutorial on you, when they could have done it way better), and the only reason I don't want a remake is because I know whoever is making it won't fix any of the existing problems, fuck up what was already good, and create entirely new problems. I barely even trust a fangame to fix it, but that's mostly my lack of faith in the Pokemon fandom speaking. If this were Sonic, I'd have no doubt somebody out there could fix it. Heck, I've got a half finished design document on how to make Chaotix not miserable.
>>47461693I mean Sinnoh is kinda bad, but that's really more the engine than anything else. Like, Sinnoh's map and encounter design are at least serviceable if not particularly great (and in case of the latter it's sometimes more than that), aside from a few particularly slow routes in an already slow game (seriously, swamps and deep snow?), it doesn't really hit the lows of the earlier games (Midgame Kanto slog, everything wrong with Gen 2's level curve, or Gen 3's weak late routes and practically non-existent postgame). Like, I fucking hate the Sinnoh games, but they could be way worse. As it stands they're only so bad it also slightly negatively impacts HGSS, which is basically the second best possible outcome for the game. I hate Sinnoh, but at least I have an emotional response which is more than I can say for XY which I continue to struggle to remember.
>>47461726Amazing what a bold (and possibly retarded) design choice, questionable soundfont, and really fucked up remake to do to a game's perception.
